Baths During Pregnancy

Mostly women are confused about the baths during pregnancy. They don't know is it safe for them or not. There are many rumors around and speculations about the medical advice, which makes them worried about it. But the fact is the baths during pregnancy are safe. But avoid taking hot baths during pregnancy because study published in The American Journal of Epidemiology in 2003 shows that use of saunas and hot tubs is unsafe during pregnancy. The body temperature of the women who use saunas or hot tubs rises which can result in miscarriage. It also increases the risk of neural defects. Another fact about hot bath is, if you take a bath that is too hot, you can feel faint due to rise in body temperature and it also lowers your blood pressure. Low blood pressure during pregnancy could be dangerous as it affects the oxygen supply to the baby.

Baths During Pregnancy

When you are taking bath during pregnancy, be careful when you enter the tub or get out from it. Your center of gravity is not in balance and you can fall or slip. You can wait for someone who can help you getting in and out of the bathtub. Strictly avoid overheating the water. Just use warm, not hot water while taking bath. 10 minutes are enough to stay in the water don't linger more. Follow your doctor's advice in any case. During the first two months of pregnancy be careful particularly about taking bath. The body of the women undergoes some critical developmental changes during these months. If women feel uncomfortable in hot water or notice their skin turning into pink, they must get out of the water quickly.

Baths During Pregnancy

Baths especially hot baths help in relaxing the sore muscles during pregnancy. They soothe back aches and leg cramps. Despite of taking painkillers or other drugs, bath can serve the purpose safely. Baths are also emotionally relaxing for the women who want some time alone and thus reducing stress level too. If the temperature stays below 37 degrees the bath is perfectly safe for you and your baby. Some researches show that you must avoid using the bath products with heavy fragrance. It also includes bubble bath. Many women think that the chances of contracting thrush increase due to this. To eliminate the risk do not use heavily fragranced products, when you are taking bath during the pregnancy. So long you use warm water and not the hot water, baths during pregnancy are safe for your baby.
